In this artist book I proceeded to a simple juxtaposition of two images, one being an add for a shelving unit found in a interior decoration magazine from the 90's and the other a still life painting from the 17th century. If the formal similarities are striking, the objects displayed in the cabinet of curiosities are rare, precious and often charged with symbolic meaning, while the objects displayed in the add seem to be only placeholders (the books are blank), perhaps revealing something about our consumer society.
